Connecting communities, science & policy

Zoē Ketola

I'm a PhD student and UniDel Graduate Fellow studying Energy & Environmental Policy at the University of Delaware.

My research lives at the intersection of society, technology, and sustainability — maintaining a consistent focus on community wellbeing through sustainable transitions.

I use principles of energy justice and social science approaches to collaborative research to connect communities, science, and policy. My work addresses the gap between policy implementation and positive outcomes for frequently underserved or otherwise disenfranchised communities.

I am a Graduate Research Assistant in the Sustainable Places Research Group (SUPER) and the Center for Research in Wind (CReW), where my work utilizes mixed-method approaches to understand topics like offshore wind development, regional planning and coordination, energy service and security, industrial heritage, equity, and justice.

I have worked on projects funded by the USDA, DOE, Natural Hazards Center, and Delaware Sea Grant.
